This $1.25 Dollar Tree Find Is a Must-Have (I Use It Multiple Times a Day)

I already own two good oven mitts. One is a full-size silicone mitt, and the other (I’ll never get rid of) is a goofy-looking but very effective industrial mitt my late mother bought me after spending her life in a professional kitchen.

Lately, I’ve been hearing about the Dollar Tree silicone-grip oven mitts by Simple Kitchen for a while now. They come in a range of pretty colors and patterns (this is just a sample). So, for $1.25, I decided to pick one up.

Since I bought this mini mitt, it’s now the only one I continually reach for. It’s quicker and easier to put on, much more comfortable, safe and effective, and not bulky (that’s my biggest beef with the others). So, I guess the adage “good things come in little packages” is correct.

This little mitt has quickly become indispensable to my daily cooking routine. I use it multiple times daily and can no longer imagine life in the kitchen without it. In fact, I’ll be picking up a second one this weekend if this story doesn’t sell them out!

Why My Dollar Tree Oven Mitts Are Supreme

The secure, non-slip grip was the first thing that sold me on this oven mitt. The thick silicone lining on the outside of the mitt provides an incredibly sturdy hold, allowing me to maneuver even the heaviest cast iron skillets easily. The short design also makes it quick and easy to put on. By comparison, I often have to pull up my sleeves or fidget with my larger gloves to get them comfortably on my hand and safely over or around my sleeves.

Beyond the comfort, I love how compact it feels. It’s not tight or small, but it allows for much more dexterity compared to my bulky mitts. Every time I’d try to delicately place a quick bread on the counter or rotate a batch of muffins in my oven, the extra bulk from my thumb or fingers would poke into the sides of the rising batter, causing a lasting dent or fingerprint.

With this mitt, I can more easily grip the edges or sides of hot dishes without the excess damaging my baked goods. In and of itself, this is the best reason to buy them.

Of course, the silicone on the mitt is heat resistant to around 450 to 500°F, covering almost every cooking task I throw its way. However, I might need to rely on the old industrial mitt when baking sourdough

It also feels incredibly durable and high-quality, like it’ll last a long time. Lastly, it’s easy to clean. I just have to toss it in the washing machine whenever it looks a little worse for wear.

I’m absolutely smitten with my Dollar Tree oven mitt. Although I’ve found a lot of other Dollar Tree gems, I’m genuinely surprised at how good this mitt feels. For $1.25, it’s affordable, durable, and, dare I say, better than any of the other mitts I’ve used. I’ll be buying another and hope to use them for a long time.
